Dr. Michael Schuman is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons who specializes in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery which includes removal of wisdom teeth, extraction of other teeth, dental implants, bone grafting, jaw surgery, and the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea.

Dr. Schuman is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, The William F. Harrigan Society of New York University - Bellevue Hospital Center Alumni Association, American Dental Society, and the Mid-Peninsula Dental Society.

Dr. Schuman is an active member of the surgical staff at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, and will occasionally take certain patients to the hospital or the surgical center for their surgery.

Dr. Schuman received his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia in New York City at the New York University College of Dentistry and the Bellevue Hospital Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery program.

Dr. Schuman has extensive training and experience in outpatient general anesthesia and IV sedation. He is a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and serves as an On-Site Evaluator for the State of California for dentists who wish to obtain their permit to provide general anesthesia in their office.

As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Schuman manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, jaws and face. Dr. Schuman practices a broad scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with over 25 years of expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and bone grafting, to wisdom teeth extractions, removal of oral pathology, CO2 laser surgery, corrective jaw surgery, and treatment of snoring and sleep apnea. Dr. Schuman also diagnoses and treats facial pain, and repairs facial injuries, and fractures.

Dr. Schuman has been safely and competently removing impacted wisdom teeth for over 25 years. His experience, attention to detail, along with using the most innovative techniques available for both anesthesia and surgery, allows for a comfortable and safe surgery and a smooth recovery.

Dr. Schuman's particular oral surgical interests include bone grafting and placement of dental implants, and the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea.

Dr. Schuman is well aware and particularly sensitive to the fact that many patients who are about to receive anesthesia and oral surgery treatment are apprehensive and/or frightened. He therefore is very compassionate and takes each patient’s unique problem very seriously.

Dr. Schuman is married to Linda and they have two children together, Rachel and David. Dr. Schuman spends family time skiing. He is also an avid tennis player and enjoys gardening, cooking, playing the guitar, raising chickens and ducks, and time with friends.
